BARU Students Receive Jury’s Special Award at the ‘Disaster Technologies Summit’

Projects developed by Bartın University (BARU) students to strengthen communication during disasters won two Jury’s Special Awards at the Disaster Technologies Summit.

Hosted by Yıldız Technical University and Yıldız Teknopark with the Ministry of Industry and Technology among its stakeholders, the 2025 Disaster Technologies Summit included a competition aimed at fostering a resilient and well-prepared society. Addressing technological solutions and innovative ideas for disaster management, the event saw BARU students achieve remarkable success.

Hamza Ketenci, a Computer Engineering student, along with Electrical and Electronics Engineering students Emre Kaan Akkaya, Berat Akkaya, and Yakupcan Ünyar, won two separate Jury’s Special Awards.

Guided by Assoc. Prof. Eyüp Burak Ceyhan, Ketenci’s project “SESVER Mobile Communication System” stood out among 400 applications, reaching the final 30 projects and receiving the Jury’s Special Award.

Meanwhile, the project titled “Search and Rescue Bracelet Charged by Body Temperature”—developed by Emre Kaan Akkaya, Berat Akkaya, and Yakupcan Ünyar under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Yasemin Erkan—was also honored with the Jury’s Special Award.
