BARÜ Students Launched Their Rocket “Gökçe” Into The Sky

Bartın University (BARÜ) students launched their rockets into the sky in the “Rocket Competition” held as part of the Aviation, Space, and Technology Festival TEKNOFEST 2025.
Competitions continue at the Aviation, Space, and Technology Festival TEKNOFEST 2025, organized by the Turkish Technology Team Foundation (T3 Foundation) with the aim of increasing interest in technology in society and creating awareness about Turkey’s transformation into a technology-producing and developing society. In the “Rocket Competition” organized within this scope, the Space Camel Rocket Team, established by Bartın University (BARÜ) students within the Aviation and Space Club, succeeded in becoming one of the first 19 teams to reach the finals.
5,000-meter high altitude success from BARÜ members
Competing in the finals of the "High Altitude" category in the competition held in Aksaray under the coordination of ROKETSAN, the BARÜ Space Camel Rocket Team performed a successful launch. Seeing off their rocket “Gökçe” into the sky, the team became the pride of BARÜ by managing to reach a high altitude of 5,100 meters.
Developed entirely by the Space Camel Rocket Team with its original avionics board, flight control computer, and all mechanical subsystems, all tests of the rocket—from static firing tests to pre-flight integration stages—were carried out at BARÜ during an intensive 9-month preparation process. The 15-person avionics and mechanical team, which successfully completed three report stages, achieved great success by becoming finalists at TEKNOFEST 2025.
Space Camel Rocket Team
In the Space Camel Rocket Team, for which Res. Asst. Şuheda Kaltakkıran from the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture, and Design serves as the academic advisor; Selim Doğukan Yolcu, İsmet Arslan, Yunus Emre Şan, Bayram Talha Aslan, Muhammed Bozan, Ahmet Emre Büber, Beyza Fındık, Davut Sivri, Şevval Öztürk, İrem Kodal, Sümeyye Çiçek, Ömer Asaf Aydemir, Nur Büyükkayaer, Kardelen Akdaş, and Emre Alıcı take part in different roles.
Congratulating the team members for their achievement, BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya said, “While it made us proud that our students reached the finals in the TEKNOFEST 2025 ‘Rocket Competition’ and performed a successful launch with a rocket of their own design, it was very valuable to see our youth reap the rewards of their efforts. I congratulate the Space Camel Rocket Team students and their advisors for being among the finalists in this important organization held with the goal of a technology-developing Turkey, and I wish them continued success.
