BARÜ Students Experience Canoeing on a Natural Pond
5 Haziran 2026
Students of Bartın University (BARÜ) gained hands-on experience in canoeing techniques and enjoyed a unique learning opportunity in close contact with nature on the natural pond that also serves as an educational environment.

Bartın University (BARÜ) has added another activity to its initiatives aimed at strengthening students’ interaction with nature in line with its sustainability vision and “Green Campus” efforts. Students from the Faculty of Sport Sciences, Department of Coaching Education, took part in a canoeing activity organized within the scope of the Exercise and Life Coaching course conducted by Associate Professor Ayça Genç. The event provided participants with an opportunity to learn in a natural setting. Held on the natural pond located at the Kutlubey Campus, the activity enabled students to gain practical experience in the fundamental techniques of canoeing while improving their teamwork and coordination skills.

On the pond, which is also utilized as a learning environment at BARÜ, students learned skills such as steering and team coordination, paddling techniques, and balance control. Organized to introduce different sports disciplines and to support the training of future coaches through an applied education model, the event contributed to both the professional development and personal experiences of the participants.

BARÜ will continue to integrate its natural and green spaces into educational processes and provide opportunities for students to transfer their theoretical knowledge into practical learning environments.
