BARÜ strengthens its scientific production with 4 projects supported by TÜBİTAK
30 Nisan 2026
Four projects from Bartın University (BARÜ) supported under the TÜBİTAK 1002-A Rapid Support Program will develop innovative solutions in the fields of health, biotechnology, and the environment.

Bartın University (BARÜ) continues its studies focused on scientific research and innovation. In this direction, four projects led by BARÜ academics have been deemed worthy of support within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 1002-A Rapid Support Program. BARÜ aims to provide significant contributions to social needs through projects to be carried out in the fields of health, biotechnology, drug development, and sustainable environmental ecosystems.

Biomaterials obtained from probiotics will contribute to wound healing

In the project led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Ufuk Çelebioğlu from the BARÜ Faculty of Science, Department of Biotechnology, the potential of substances obtained from probiotic bacteria in wound healing processes will be investigated. The project titled "Biomaterial Potential of Exopolysaccharides Produced from the Synbiotic Combination of Phenolic Compounds and Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG Probiotic Bacteria in Wound Healing Applications" aims to develop next-generation natural biomaterials.

New drugs will be developed for Alzheimer's disease

The project titled "Design, Enzymatic and Cellular Biological Evaluation of Multi-Target Benzimidazole-2-Selenone Derivatives for Alzheimer's Disease," led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Parham Taslimi from the BARÜ Faculty of Science, Department of Biotechnology, aims to develop next-generation drug candidates. In this study, where substances capable of affecting different enzymes simultaneously will be designed, candidate molecules will be evaluated using biological tests and advanced analysis methods.

Innovative approaches for diabetes treatment will be researched

With the project led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nastaran Sadeghian from the BARÜ Faculty of Science, Department of Biotechnology, it is planned to develop multi-targeted drugs for a common and chronic disease such as diabetes. The project titled "Investigation of Multi-Targeted Drug Potential of Nitrobenzyl Substituted Benzimidazolium Salts for Diabetes" aims to develop innovative treatment strategies and improve public health.

Plant resistance to drought stress will be increased

In the project titled "Effects of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungus (AMF) and Strigolactone Applications Against Drought Stress," led by Res. Asst. Eren Baş from the Bartın Faculty of Forestry, biological methods to increase plant resistance to drought stress will be examined. The project aims to produce solutions against the effects of climate change on drought and will provide important data for sustainable forest and pasture management and the protection of biodiversity.

Emphasizing that BARÜ's scientific productivity and research capacity are strengthening every day with projects supported by TÜBİTAK, Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya stated:

"We are pleased that the qualified scientific studies carried out at our university are supported by TÜBİTAK. I congratulate our academics Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Ufuk Çelebioğlu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Parham Taslimi, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nastaran Sadeghian, and Res. Asst. Eren Baş, who contribute to the world of science with their innovative social contribution-oriented works, and I wish them success in their studies."
