BARU Prepares to Produce Its Own Energy

Bartın University (BARU) is set to implement another exemplary eco-friendly project under its sustainable and renewable energy initiatives—one that will generate the electricity it needs.

In 2023, BARU was visited as part of the World Bank-financed "Public Renewable Energy Project," for which the university applied. Under this project, conducted by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change with the financial backing of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, feasibility studies for renewable energy installations in public buildings were carried out at the Kutlubey Campus.

Preliminary assessments have determined that the open parking lot of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, along with the parking lot located opposite the Faculty of Education – Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, meet the necessary criteria for a solar energy efficiency project. BARU will produce its required electricity from sustainable sources.
