BARÜ Participates in the Western Black Sea Development Union Meeting

Bartın University (BARÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya attended the Western Black Sea Development Union (BAKAB) coordination meeting aimed at fostering the development of the region.
The coordination meeting of the Western Black Sea Development Union (BAKAB), which seeks to promote sustainable development by supporting the social, cultural, and natural assets of the region, was hosted by Düzce Municipality. The meeting, held under the coordination of Düzce Mayor and BAKAB President Dr. Faruk Özlü, was attended by BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya as well as representatives from relevant institutions and organizations across the provinces of Bartın, Bolu, Düzce, Karabük, Kastamonu, and Zonguldak.
During the meeting, which holds significant importance for regional development, participants evaluated potential joint projects and opportunities for collaboration. Views were exchanged on initiatives that could contribute to the regional economy—particularly in tourism—as well as on future goals. Topics such as enhancing interprovincial cooperation, jointly planning regional tourism, and developing promotional strategies were also discussed.
Emphasizing the importance of collaboration with BAKAB in unlocking the region’s potential, Rector Akkaya stated: “As Bartın University, we contribute to efforts aimed at identifying and effectively utilizing the potential of our city and region. Within this framework, we came together with representatives of relevant institutions and organizations at the Western Black Sea Development Union meeting and held various consultations. I hope that this meeting will bring beneficial outcomes for our region, and I would like to thank everyone who contributed.”
