BARÜ Launches a Major Project for the Construction Sector
27 Ağustos 2025
Bartın University (BARÜ) is set to implement innovative applications in the construction sector through a project carried out within its specialization area of “Smart Logistics and Integrated Regional Applications.”

Bartın University (BARÜ) continues its innovative efforts contributing to regional development within the scope of its “Smart Logistics and Integrated Regional Applications” specialization area. In this context, the project titled “Production, Characterization, and 3D Concrete Printing of Thermally Efficient 3D Layered Artificial Aggregates,” led by Prof. Dr. Osman Gençel from the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design, will enable the production of innovative artificial aggregates and concrete using 3D printing technology. As a result of the project, next-generation, energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly construction materials will be developed.

The project, which makes a significant contribution to university–industry collaboration, includes Prof. Dr. Ahmet Sarı from Karadeniz Technical University, Prof. Dr. Serkan Subaşı from Düzce University, Prof. Dr. Ertuğrul Erdoğmuş and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abid Ustaoğlu from BARÜ, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yusuf Er from Fırat University, and industry partner Muhammed Maraşlı, a board member and researcher at Fibrobeton Construction Elements Inc.

The 3D concrete printing infrastructure, which will be introduced to BARÜ for the first time in the Western Black Sea Region, will provide a significant opportunity for both academic research and industrial R&D activities. This technology will enhance the international competitiveness of regional companies while also enabling the development of rapid shelter solutions in the aftermath of natural disasters.

After examining the ongoing work on site and receiving detailed information, BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya expressed his satisfaction with the focus on regional development in the conducted scientific projects and congratulated the project team.
