BARÜ Establishes Key Contacts for Global Partnerships at NAFSA 2026

Bartın University (BARÜ) expanded its international collaboration network through preliminary agreements with 30 universities from 21 countries at NAFSA 2026, one of the world's most prestigious higher education fairs held in the United States (USA).
Continuing to strengthen its global academic network in line with its internationalization vision, Bartın University (BARÜ) participated in NAFSA 2026, one of the world's leading higher education fairs, held in Orlando, Florida, USA, where it held a series of strategic meetings aimed at fostering international collaborations. BARÜ was represented at the fair by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Yafes Yıldız, General Coordinator of International Relations Dr. Ahmet Yirmibeş, and Lecturer Murat İpek from the Erasmus Office.
Preliminary Agreements Reached with 30 Universities from 21 Countries
Bringing together higher education institutions, educational organizations, and sector representatives from around the world, the event featured BARÜ within the "Study in Türkiye" pavilion organized under the coordination of the Turkish National Agency. As part of the event, the BARÜ delegation held meetings with representatives from numerous universities, particularly from the USA, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Canada, China, Argentina, and Peru. Following discussions focused on academic cooperation, student and staff mobility, and the development of joint projects, preliminary agreements were reached with 30 universities from 21 countries. These achievements further enhanced BARÜ’s international visibility while strengthening its global collaboration network.
New Collaboration Opportunities Evaluated in the USA
The BARÜ delegation also met with the Education Counsellor Offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C., to discuss potential educational and research collaborations between BARÜ and higher education institutions in the United States. The meetings held within the scope of NAFSA 2026 are expected to make significant contributions to increasing student and academic staff mobility, developing joint research projects, and establishing sustainable academic partnerships.
BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya emphasized the valuable contributions of the Turkish National Agency to the international engagements carried out during NAFSA 2026. He also expressed his sincere gratitude to Mr. İlker Astarcı, President of the Turkish National Agency, for the Agency’s support in ensuring the effective representation of higher education institutions on international platforms.
