BARÜ Athletes Win Two Medals at European Wrestling Championships

Students from Bartın University’s (BARÜ) Faculty of Sport Sciences achieved significant success on the international stage by winning one gold and one bronze medal at the U20 European Wrestling Championships.
Students from the Education of Coaching Department at Bartın University’s (BARÜ) Faculty of Sport Sciences continue to make the University proud with their achievements in international competitions. Most recently, BARÜ athletes once again demonstrated outstanding performances at the U20 European Wrestling Championships held in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia. Representing Türkiye at the championships, BARÜ’s national wrestlers won one gold and one bronze medal.
Competing in the women’s 68 kg category, Elif Şevval Kurt defeated her opponents to claim the gold medal. After winning the final bout, Kurt was crowned U20 European champion. İlayda Çin, who competed in the women’s 72 kg category, delivered a strong performance and secured the bronze medal, finishing third in Europe. With these achievements, the BARÜ athletes contributed to Türkiye’s overall medal tally at the European Wrestling Championships.
BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya expressed his satisfaction with the achievements at the U20 European Wrestling Championships and congratulated the national athletes. “I sincerely congratulate our students Elif Şevval Kurt and İlayda Çin, who represented both our country and our University in the best possible manner on the international stage. I congratulate our athletes, who made us proud by achieving remarkable results as European champion and European bronze medallist, and wish them continued success,” Rector Akkaya said.
