1 Eylül 2025
At the Kumluca Honey Festival, where Bartın University (BARÜ) met with producers, ideas were exchanged regarding the development of beekeeping-one of the region's local riches-and the support of natural production.

The 1st Honey Festival was held in Bartın’s Kumluca Municipality with the aim of promoting the cultural and economic values of the region. Bartın University (BARÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya attended the event held at the Kumluca Municipality Recreation Area. Visiting the stands set up in the festival area and receiving information about production activities from Kumluca Mayor Mustafa Bozkurt and regional producers, Rector Prof. Dr. Akkaya stated that BARÜ will contribute to efforts to transform local products into national and international brands.

At the festival, which drew great interest from citizens, Rector Akkaya expressed that BARÜ will work with a focus on advancing products that support the development of the city and the region, saying: “The honey festival organized in Kumluca carries not only local products but also natural productions suitable for our region's climatic conditions to the national arena. As Bartın University, while supporting initiatives developed by preserving Bartın's natural ecosystem, we will work to transfer the regional values that have branding potential to national and international platforms. Just as we contribute to our city's farmers with our smart greenhouse applications, we will continue to develop various studies to support local producers.”

As part of the festival, producers from the villages of Kumluca came together to promote local honeys. Additionally, participants were offered rhododendron honey along with chestnut honey, which is a branded product of the region's rich natural resources.
