BARÜ Adds Value to the Future of Agricultural Production with Smart Greenhouses
23 Ağustos 2025
The smart greenhouse systems implemented by Bartın University (BARÜ) through the “Feed the Future” project contribute to the sustainability of agricultural production affected by natural disasters.

Within the scope of the “Feed the Future” project, carried out with co-financing from the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye, smart greenhouse systems—implemented as a best-practice example of digitalization in agriculture—were examined on site by BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya. Dr. Cevdet Gümüş from the Department of Plant and Animal Production at Bartın Vocational School provided detailed technical information about the innovative smart greenhouses located on the Ağdacı Campus.

Emphasizing the importance of modern greenhouse practices in agricultural production, which is highly vulnerable to natural disasters, Rector Akkaya stated:

“As Bartın University, within the framework of our Associate Degree Program in Organic Agriculture, we are successfully implementing smart greenhouse systems that can be remotely controlled through various automation technologies and adapt to environmental conditions. This modern greenhouse initiative serves as a forward-looking example for both the city and the region. Our greenhouses, equipped with new technologies that allow factors such as heating and wind to be remotely managed, will contribute to farmers in our city and region, which are among those affected by natural disasters. I would like to thank everyone who contributed.”
