Bartın University’s EU-Funded Vision Project Successfully Concluded

Bartın University (BARÜ) has successfully concluded its European Union–supported project aimed at developing sustainable solutions for climate change adaptation and resilience.

The closing meeting of the project, titled “Climate Change Adaptation Strategies: Reducing Flood and Water Scarcity Risks in Bartın” (BİRUS), was held following the completion of project activities. Funded under the EU IPA II Framework Agreement by the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye, the project was carried out with the partnership of the Bartın Governorship Provincial Administration and Bartın Municipality. It also aligned with BARÜ’s specialization area of “Smart Logistics and Integrated Regional Applications.”

The program, held at the Library Conference Hall on the Kutlubey Campus, opened with remarks by BARÜ Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Selçuk Gümüş. This was followed by a presentation of project activities delivered by Dr. Ercan Gemici from the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design, who served as Assistant Coordinator of the BİRUS Project.

The event concluded with participants visiting a demonstration site on the university’s library building showcasing a green roof application, exemplifying the project’s practical contributions to sustainable urban development.
