Award for BARU Faculty of Science student's "Rota Virus" vaccine study

Bartın University (BARU) Faculty of Science student Talat Toprak's vaccine study on "Rota Virus" which causes life-threatening diseases in children, won first place in the competition organized by Adana Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone (AOSB).

The results of the "National Industry-Focused R&D and Innovation Project Competition" organized by Adana Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone (AOSB) Directorate in order to support technology-based business ideas and young entrepreneurs were announced. A total of 191 project applications were made from 68 different universities in 16 thematic areas in the organization, which also aims to spread the R&D and Innovation culture and strengthen university-industry cooperation.

With the evaluation made by the jury consisting of experts in the field, Talat Toprak, a student of BARU Faculty of Science, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, was awarded the first prize in the Student Category with his project "Immunological Studies of Probiotic-Based Oral Rotavirus Vaccine with Recombinant Lactobacillus GG Host Expressing Pathogenic Rotavirus Antigen". The project, supervised by Dr. Instructor Rizvan Imamoglu from the Department of Biotechnology at the Faculty of Science, aims to conduct immunological studies on a probiotic-based Rotavirus vaccine using a novel method.
