A visit to Rector Akkaya from athletes who made Bartın proud

Young athletes Korcan Bulut Özdemir and Zeynep Alya Şahin, who made Bartın proud with their achievements in national and international organizations, visited Bartın University (BARÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya.
A visit was paid to Bartın University (BARÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya by young athletes Korcan Bulut Özdemir and Zeynep Alya Şahin, who have achieved outstanding success in different branches.
National athlete Korcan Bulut Özdemir achieved significant success by becoming 3rd in the world in the 50m butterfly, 200m individual medley, and 50m freestyle mental youth categories at the 2025 VIRTUS World Swimming Championships (Seniors - Youth) held in Thailand by the Turkish Special Athletes Sports Federation.
Zeynep Alya Şahin, who competed in the 11-12 age recurve women's category at the 2025 U13 Outdoor Archery Championship held in Düzce by the Turkish Archery Federation, succeeded in becoming the champion of Turkey.
Chatting with the young athletes during the visit held at the Rectorate office, Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya congratulated Korcan Bulut Özdemir, Zeynep Alya Şahin, their coaches, and their families for their achievements.
The visit was attended by athlete Zeynep Alya Şahin's father, former Bartın Garrison Commander Navy Senior Colonel (Retired) Erkan Şahin, BARÜ Acting Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences Prof. Dr. Şuayip Yüzbaşı, and the coaches of the young athletes.
